PASTORAL CARE
Jesus said, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
Care for one another is the hallmark of Christian discipleship. Each of us, by our baptism, is called to love and care for others. At St. John’s, this happens in a variety of formal and informal ways as members look after one another. Formal lay pastoral ministry training is done through the Community of Hope International. Lay Pastoral Ministers are commissioned to serve in the parish.
Community of Hope training equips lay people to serve in all forms of pastoral care. Through ongoing spiritual formation and practical lessons on care giving, members learn to match theological insights and spiritual practices with their experiences of ministering to others. The Prayer Circle ministry is a group of members who commit to pray daily for anyone who asks. Send a prayer request through the website: fill out the form under Prayer Request on the homepage. Requests are confidential if so requested.
- HOSPITAL VISITS
An important part of the church’s role in the community is to provide care in times of need. Please let the church know if you or a loved one is hospitalized, having surgery or dealing with a medical issue. We are available to those in need of prayer, anointing, or a visit.
- EUCHARISTIC VISITS
We who are many are one body because we all share one bread and one cup. Our volunteer team of Eucharistic Visitors brings Holy Eucharist to those who are not able to come to St. John’s for services. If you or anyone you know would like to have the Eucharist brought to them, please let us know.
